MAKE HAY WHILE THE SUN SHINES
No truer words have been spoken. Before baling, the sugar cane trash is
raked (turned over) a number of times so that it dries properly. This
is important for the storing of the bales and the subsequent quality of
the mulch.
Kriedemann Farms bale the cane trash only when the leaf is dried to minimize
dirt accumulation during baling.
A tether rake is used which works in a horizontal plane and does not make
contact with the ground. If it does touch, because the fingers on the
rake are made of plastic rather than steel, they donít kick up
extreme amounts of dust.
The tether rake doesnít only roll the hay but gently gathers it
into a windrow. This alone reduces the amount of dust in the product.
Dust control does not end there.
Once collected the hay bales are cured before processing. By starting
with trash or cane leaf hay that has been dried properly and bales that
have been properly cured, any dirt and dust can be shaken loose from the
cane leaf.
The cane bales are hammer milled and then passed across a shaking screen
that kicks the dust free.
Powerful suction fans then separate the freed dust which is sent via piping
into a large stand alone Silo. A truck load of dust and fines is separated
from the mulch every day and is used in composting.
The investment in research, technology and special techniques used by
Kriedemann Farms benefits the consumer by producing much cleaner mulch.
Customers often comment that the ease of use and
cleanliness of Kriedemann Farms Organic Sugar Cane Mulch makes it a pleasure
to work with.
Determination to be the supplier of the cleanest Sugar Cane Mulch in Australia

The drying and curing process has other benefits to you. Because of the
care and attention to correctly baling, curing and handling the cane trash
before processing, only completely dried and cured material is packed
into the bag.
If the mulch was to go into the bag ìgreen ì ie not cured,
it may start to compost anaerobically, in the absence of oxygen, and cause
some undesirable consequences.
This would not affect how the material acts on your garden, but could
expose the user to undesirable organisms. The Australian Standards was
created in response to problems associated with potting mix and legionella
bacteria, so the risks associated from anaerobic decomposition are very
real and should be taken very seriously.
Mulch that has become wet through a tear hole in the bag has access to
oxygen and does not pose a problem, however any mulch product that has
gone mouldy in a sealed bag should be returned to the place of purchase
immediately.
Kriedemann Farms have invested considerable time, money and resources
into understanding the essential qualities of cane trash. This knowledge
has been instrumental in the development of our Erosion Control Product
called EVERGRO
A short summary of the reasons why Kriedemann Organic
Sugar Cane Mulch not only helps water retention but also prevents erosion
is set out below
NATURAL FIBRE MATRIX
The length and the profile of the mulch pieces of the Sugar cane fibre
is important.
The Kriedemann Organic Sugar Cane Mulch will form a natural fibre matrix
on top of the soil that prevents the material blowing away or eroding
away on a slope.
This fibre matrix has been widely used by Engineers and Landscape designers
to stabilize banks and other areas subject to erosion. Through extensive
research into
this natural fibre matrix of interlocking fibres, the optimum size for
the sugar cane fibre was discovered.
Sugar cane trash that is simply chopped up with a forage harvester does
not have a profile that will form a matrix as effectively, if at all.
In Summary KRIEDEMANN FARMS ORGANIC SUGAR CANE
mulch has three important features that set it apart from all other mulches.
1 Integrated Dust Reduction Program from paddock to your garden.
2 Guaranteed Mould free to limit the risk of anaerobic decomposition.
3 Sized and profiled to form a Natural Fibre Matrix that holds the mulch
in place. |
